Viewing the skin states on a Spark Button control in Flex 4
The following example shows how you can create a simple skin-state browser in Flex 4 by calling the setCurrentState() method on an object’s skin property.
Full code after the jump.
The following example(s) require Flash Player 10 and the Adobe Flex 4 SDK. To download the Adobe Flash Builder 4 trial, see http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/. To download the latest nightly build of the Flex 4 SDK, see http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4.
For more information on getting started with Flex 4 and Flash Builder 4, see the official Adobe Flex Team blog.

This entry is based on a beta version of the Flex 4 SDK and therefore is very likely to change as development of the Flex SDK continues. The API can (and will) change causing examples to possibly not compile in newer versions of the Flex 4 SDK.

This is a very nice trick, thanks!
We’re developing an application in flex cum flash where 3D objects has to be generated.i.e we design a room (kitchen) in a 2D view and need to show that in 3D view.We use the ‘Away3D’ classes for the same it was ok for the floor plan rendering and all but when we started placing objects (cabinets etc) on walls, those are not rendering properly. We shows different views of the room.So when we look from the back of the wall, actually this product must not be visible but for us its visible. In short the away 3d is not rendering properly, various objects.
Hi Peter,
Your blog is awesome. Everytime I am looking for something I end up here and find the answer. But I have a weird problem with my new project and you are the last hope. The project itself is a music application with “upload” and “profile” functions.
The problem is when I click the “Upload” button to open (addPopUp()) a modal PopUp window with custom component (just few inputs and buttons) AND music is already playing, everything freezes. Button “Upload” is still clicked, buttons and inputs in modal window arent refreshing when I interact with them, Tabs in Tab navigator aren’t changing and player progress (HSlider) is stuck. Then when I click “Back” in modal window to close it, everything is still frozen (except music), and I need to click “Pause Music” to unblock everything.
I noticed that problem comes up exactly when I open PopUp modal window and music is playing at the same time. I am new to Flex so maybe there is easy workaround. The most important for me is the ability to upload files when playing music and to not have MESS (Many pop-ups, one on another) on the screen . I haven’t found your E-mail address, so I am writing here. It would be great if you could help me.
Best regards,
Igor Skuhar
@Igor Skuhar,
Can you please file a bug at http://bugs.adobe.com/flex/.
Thanks,
Peter
No problem anymore, it looks like opening popUp Window when refreshing position of HSlider (Hslider.value = SoundChannel.position/1000) onEnterFrame isn’t allowed ^^ Thank you!
Saludos otra vez.
Hi Peter,
I was searching everywhere and can’t find any solution. I have a music player and when I change to next track I change backgroundImage of whole Application also. I am doing it by setting backgroundImage style of Application to new background. The problem is when the backgroundImage is changing the blank screen is shown for short time. And here comes my task: How can I change backgroundImage only AFTER next Image is fully loaded?? Maybe there is any option to check progress of loading backgroundImage? Thanks for any help.
