Peter, thank you for the fast response !

I was thinking just to add or replace swc libraries on the "Library path" in Flex Builder 2. I thought someone else here already tried this but, as soon as I'll have both builders and sdks on my machine I'll try it myself and leave the result here (just for the record :) ).

Thanks again !

Doru,

Although I haven't tried, I don't believe it is possible. I believe the ability to run multiple versions of the Flex SDK was added in Flex Builder 3.

However, you can have Flex Builder 2 and Flex Builder 3 installed at the same time (at least with the standalone installations, not sure about the Eclipse plugin version). Although, after a project has been imported into Flex Builder 3, I'm not sure if you can still open it in Flex Builder 2 (file format changes, etc).

Also note that you can install the Flex Builder 3 beta from Adobe Labs (see http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flex/flexbuilder3/) and use your Flex Builder 2 serial number to extend the 60 day trial.

Hey Peter and others,

Thanks for your reply obvisiously my last reply wasnt added. I managed to copy the datavisualization.swc into the nightly builds but theres no win for the advDatagrid.

Only thing left to do is to post your requests at the Adobe Forums. And i would referer to the thread Peter mentioned above.

Best regards,

Dan,

The best advice I can offer would be to post on the Adobe Forums (FORUMS : Flex Builder 3) and plead your case for more frequent drops of the datavisualization.swc file. There wouldn't be a way for me to distribute newer versions of the SWC externally (and remain employed). :)

Peter

update: Or I guess you could try joining this thread, but it seems like it it isn't possible to distribute the SWC easily right now.

We are seeing quite a few important bugs against the AdvancedDataGrid marked as fixed and would like to take advantage of them in our Flex 3 Beta 2 apps. But so far the datavisualization.swc file hasn't been included in any of the nightly builds.

Would it be possible to get a one-off updated build of the datavisualization.swc?

I do own a Flex 2 and Charting license.

Sjoerd,

I don't believe that the nightly builds ship with the datavisualization.swc file. I tried a very simple test with the SDK build that came with Flex Builder 3 Beta 2 and the AdvancedDataGrid worked fine, so I think you'll need to switch to the "Flex 3 M3 (Beta 2)" for any projects where you want to use AdvancedDataGrid or Charts.

Or, if you like to play dangerous, you could try copying the datavisualization.swc from the Flex Builder 3 SDKs folder (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\sdks\3.0.0\frameworks\libs\) and try pasting it into the similar folder in your nightly build. I don't know if that would work, or how reliable it would be though, so use at your own risk.

Varada,

As far as I know, the version of Flex Builder posted on Adobe Labs is the most recent version. The good news is that according to the schedule on the Flex Wiki (link), there should be a new version out sometime in October 2007.
